Skakki was approached for ideas to create a lighting solution which would be equally effective as a day and night installation. The idea of Droplets was born.
The space was to serve as a bar and restaurant during the day and as a nightclub in the evening until the early hours. The old inner-courtyard of the building was restored and covered with a beautiful glass roof, which let plenty of natural light in throughout the day.
A total of 320 glass globes of 150mm diameter were used to fill the space, reflecting sunlight during the day, and glowing with an LED filament during the night, each individually controlled for maximum effect.
The primary focus was to find an elegant solution, which could still provide an impressive light show worthy of a nightclub environment.
